How pay-per-call actually works
We run the demand — search, paid, and Google Business Profile — into a tracked number that routes straight to your line. Every call is recorded, timed and matched against the criteria we agreed: the caller's location, the job type, and whether there is a real job behind it. Calls that clear the threshold are billed. Wrong numbers, sales calls, out-of-area callers and enquiries for work you do not do are not.
- Tracked number per campaign, routed to your line or our answering team
- Billing threshold set by duration and qualification, agreed before launch
- Full call recordings so you can audit every billed call
- Out-of-hours routing so 2am emergency calls are not lost
Why calls convert better than forms for plumbing work
Someone standing over a burst pipe does not fill in a form. They ring the first three numbers they see and book whoever answers and can attend. That urgency is why call leads for emergency plumbing convert at forty to sixty per cent against ten to twenty for web forms — and it is also why missing calls is the single most expensive habit in the trade.
Pay-per-call versus pay-per-lead
Pay-per-lead suits planned work — bathroom refits, boiler installations, commercial quotes — where the buyer is researching and happy to submit details. Pay-per-call suits emergency and same-day work where speed decides the winner. Most firms run both, weighted toward calls in winter when emergency volume spikes and toward form leads in the installation season.
What happens when you cannot answer
A pay-per-call campaign into an unanswered phone is money set on fire. If your team cannot reliably answer, we route overflow to our 24/7 plumbing-trained answering team who qualify, book, and pass the job through — so a missed call becomes a booked job rather than a competitor's.
Who pay-per-call suits
This model rewards availability. Before launching we check that:
- Calls are answered inside three rings during working hours, or routed to answering cover
- You can attend emergency work within your stated response window
- You service a defined, realistic geography we can target precisely
- Your pricing works at emergency call-out rates rather than planned-work rates
If you only take booked, planned work and never attend same-day, pay-per-lead is a better fit and we will point you there instead.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a billable call?
A call from inside your service area, for a job type you have agreed to take, lasting over the duration threshold we set together — usually 60 seconds. Everything else is filtered out before billing, and you get the recordings to check.
How much do pay-per-call plumbing leads cost?
Between £35 and £120 per qualified call. Emergency and commercial calls sit at the higher end because the job values behind them are larger.
Are the calls exclusive?
Yes. The number rings you and only you. There is no simultaneous ring-out to competing firms, which is how some call marketplaces operate.
What if I miss a call?
You are not billed for a call you did not answer, but you also lost the job. That is why we recommend overflow routing to our answering team for any firm running call campaigns at volume.
Can I cap how many calls I get per day?
Yes. Daily and weekly caps are set at campaign level, and we can pause routing when your diary is full and resume without losing the campaign's performance history.
